Nestled in the French countryside of Buellas, the Château de La Teyssonnière boasts a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Constructed by Étienne de La Teyssonnière in 1346, the castle stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Teyssonnière family. The family has a long history of honor and bravery. One of their ancestors, Philippe de la Teyssonnière, fought in the Templar Order and died defending his beliefs. They have been recognized as French nobility since 1429, earning respect for their courage. The Teyssonniére family was also known in royal circles, with some members holding important positions in court during Louis XV’s reign. Despite changes over time, their story remains one of bravery and passes down through generations. One notable member, Charles Agricole Nestor de La Teyssonnière, led the restoration of the castle after being burned and ruined during the French Revolution. His name is also associated with the conception of a sprawling 15-hectare botanical garden surrounding the castle, Le Parc Botanique de la Teyssonnière. This botanical marvel offers visitors a serene retreat amidst meticulously manicured gardens, embodying the family’s enduring commitment to preserving natural beauty and historical heritage.
Renaissance of the Castle
In November 2022, the castle was acquired by Swiss businessman Richard Col. Inspired by the rich history and majestic beauty of the castle, Richard envisioned the possibilities to revive the place. Driven by boundless enthusiasm and a vision of excellence, he embarked on a journey to breathe new life into the old domain.
Starting from mid-2025, the restoration works of the castle will officially begin with a team of skilled artisans, architects, and designers dedicated to restoring the castle to its former glory and glamour. Every detail has been meticulously conceived and crafted with care. But Richard’s vision extends beyond the castle walls. His ambition is to create a destination where guests can escape the rigors of daily life and indulge in unparalleled luxury and relaxation.
